Online calculator helps farmers tally pricing exposure
The Canadian Wheat Board has created an online calculator that can be used to help farmers determine their current level of pricing risk. The calculator is used in conjunction with the CWB’s price pace, which is released in each Pool Return Outlook.
Mavis Willson is a CWB Program Service Representative. She says the calculator is very user friendly.
Wilson says the CWB's new online calculator is very similar to using the mortgage calculators found on many banking Web sites.
When using the online calculator, farmers should keep in mind a few things about their farming operation.
Wilson says the online calculator is not intended to tell farmers if they should sign up for a Producer Payment Option.
