Protect your PIN

Your PIN is a security feature that restricts access to your CWB account. Your PIN is a four-digit number that should be kept strictly private, and not be shared with anyone else. It should be safeguarded in the same way you safeguard a bank PIN.

The danger in sharing your PIN is that anyone with access to your PIN can make changes to your account, such as signing up or buying out a contract. This could have a negative effect on your business.

Be sure to memorize your PIN – this is far more secure than writing it down, or carrying it with you. If you believe that someone may have accessed your PIN, please notify the CWB immediately to have your PIN changed.

You can personalize your PIN to create a number that is easy to remember. It’s easy to change your PIN through e-Services: Log-in, click the Permit tab, select Producer, and then click the PIN link.

Other identification and security numbers

In addition to your four-digit PIN, you also have:

  • A producer identification number. This is basically your account number. When you contact the CWB to discuss your account, you will need to provide both your producer ID and PIN. A producer ID is an eight-digit number that is permanently assigned to a farm entity. It is preceded by a two-digit prefix, which varies for each appearance on a permit.
  • An e-Services password and user ID. These are required to access your account through e-Services. Your e-Services password is distinct from your PIN.
