Producer direct sale
What is it?
The CWB's Producer Direct Sale (PDS) is the mechanism for you to sell your wheat and barley directly to customers. Through this process, you receive an export licence to sell your grain in whole or processed form.
Program details
- PDS sign up is available by phone by calling 1-800-275-4292 for a daily price quote. This quote represents the market price the CWB could obtain for a similar grain product on that day.
- You need to complete PDS contract information and pay the difference between the daily price quote and the initial payment, plus a per tonne administration fee.
- Once payment is received, the CWB issues an export licence. You then have 60 days to execute the sale.
- You remain either in the pool or can use Producer Pricing Options (PPOs).
- You are eligible to receive adjustment, interim and final pool payments or PPO additional payment.
What you need to know
- In order to complete a PDS, you must have a valid delivery permit and delivery contract. Please call the CWB at 1-800-275-4292 (weekdays between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Winnipeg time) to find out if the PDS is right for you.
- PDS payment can be made by certified cheque or credit card.
- In order to stay in the pool and receive future pool payments, you need to send in the elevator receipt to the CWB.
